Putnam Valley Library to Celebrate its 70th Anniversary with Gala Event and Two Contests "My Favorite Place in Putnam Valley" theme of both Photo and Essay Competition
The Putnam Valley Library will celebrate its 70th Anniversary on Sunday, September 30 with a gala event from 2-7pm. The festivities will include a reception, Award presentations, music, as well as a delicious dinner.
In preparation for this significant anniversary celebration, the Library Board is requesting your help in updating its records. They are trying to contact former Trustees and volunteers, who have served the Library over the years. Some Trustees have moved, but family members or friends may still reside in Putnam Valley. They need your input.
Please forward your information to: Elaine Sanders, V.P., Putnam Valley Library Board of Trustees, who is coordinating this effort. The Library is located at: 30 Oscawana Lake Rd, Putnam Valley, NY 10579. You may also contact the Director of the Library, Kathleen McLaughlin, at 845-528-3242.
Related to their festive Anniversary event, the Library is holding two contests, an essay contest and a photo contest, for the whole family. The theme of the contests is "My Favorite Place in Putnam Valley". There are four age categories for each contest: Elementary School, Middle School, High School, and adults.
Entries for the photo contest may be matted or mounted. The minimum size is 4"x 6", with a maximum size of 9"x 12". The photos may be dropped off at the library or mailed. The deadline for entries is Saturday, September 15. The photographer's name, address, age, and contact phone number should be attached or listed on the back of the photo. Winning photos will be framed and displayed in the Library.
Essays for the contest may contain up to 300 words maximum. The same age categories apply as the photo contest and should include the author's name, address, age, and phone number. Winning essays will also be displayed in the Library.
