Urges Yes Vote on NHFD Bond Issue
Dear Editor:

On August 14, the residents of the North Highlands Fire District will be given an opportunity to once again vote on a 4.7 million dollar Bond Issue to build a new Firehouse.

As one of the eight original founding members, and first President of the Fire Company, I urge all registered voters of the district to take a few minutes out of their busy day to vote in favor of this very important issue. The current Firehouse was built in 1970 in a "time was of the essence" mode. It represented the most expedient and financially conservative approach to accomplishing an urgent need. It was anticipated, at the time, that the building would have a life expectancy of between 25 & 30 years. It has outlived its' usefulness and the time has come for it to be replaced.

The Fire Commissioners, and all volunteers, have worked an untold number of hours over the past 18 months to come up with a Firehouse Plan which is both functionally effective and aesthetically pleasing. The new Firehouse will be an asset and will meet the needs of our community for the next 50 to 70 years. Please vote yes on August 14.
