Garrison Art Center's 38th Annual Fine Arts & Crafts Fair to Take Place on August 18-19

On Saturday August 18 and Sunday August 19, 2007, the Garrison Art Center 38th Annual Fine Arts & Crafts Fair (ACF) continues its tradition as a premier event in the Hudson Valley for collectors of fine art and craft. Organized by Garrison Art Center (GAC), a notfor profit community cultural organization, the event is a longstanding community event and GAC's largest annual fundraiser.

High standards, and the beautiful Garrison Landing Riverfront Park site, have attracted over 75 regionally and nationally known artists. Stately willows, views of West Point, the visiting Woody Guthrie sloop, regional food artisans and wineries, delicious picnic options from GAC's Food Tent & Grill, and remarkable artists will likely attract over 8,000 visitors this year.

Step off the Metro North Hudson Line train, or park free in the Metro North lot, and you are at the entrance to this twoday celebration of the arts. Presenting significant artists, the event showcases work by leaders in their field. Juried work includes ceramics, jewelry, fiber arts, paintings and prints, woodwork, glass, toys, sculpture, metalwork, photography, decorative arts, specialty foods, and natural crafts. Who's there? Review the complete 2007 Exhibitor List by visiting www.garrisonartcenter.org, then select "Arts & Crafts Fair", and "Who's There?"

In addition to unique and collectible art, the ACF has additional, truly special events: Visitors can enjoy musical performances from these fantastic acoustic acts: Kathleen Pemble, Sleepy Hollow String Band, Swing du Jour, and the old time sound of the Blue Vipers of Brooklyn. Maritime displays include a Biscayne Bay 14, built by Hudson Valley Wooden Boat, and the sloop Woody Guthrie, providing free Hudson River rides.

With tables to sit at, and picnic sites by the river, the GAC Food Tent has volunteers homecooking something for everybody! You'll find hamburgers, hot dogs, veggie-burgers, fresh corn on the cob, and more. Visiting food artisans are in to provide wonderful, gourmet treats as well. These include Beth's Farm Kitchen, the Cold Spring Farmers' Market, a Ronnybrook Ice Cream booth, Pocono Kettle Korn, Hummingbird Ranch, Spacey Tracy's Pickles, and Dutch Desserts. From the Hudson Valley wine region they have Whitecliff Vineyards, Adair Vineyards, and Warwick Valley Winery.

GAC's Gillete and Balter Galleries display artwork by students of the GAC Summer Art Institute. The Ceramics department and store are open with demonstrations and artwork for sale.

GAC has invited in local community organizations to highlight their programs, including Scenic Hudson, Hudson Highlands Land Trust, Walter Hoving Home, and the Beacon Sloop Club.

Best part of the Fair? Proceeds fund GAC's terrific programming for adults and children all year!

The event takes place at Garrison's Landing Riverfront Park, adjacent to the Center, from 10am-5pm, rain or shine. Admission is $5 per visitor, with children under 12 free
