Doansburg Chamber Ensemble to Conclude Their Season With Two Performances
The Doansburg Chamber Ensemble will close their 2007 season with performances by their chamber orchestra on Saturday, September 1 at 8pm at St. Mary's in the Highland's Episcopal Church at the intersection of Routes 9D and 301 in Cold Spring, and on Sunday, September 2 at 4pm at Trinity Lutheran Church on Route 6 just west of Brewster.
These presentations will include performances of W.A. Mozart's Symphony No. 13, Symphony in A by Josef Myslivecek, Franz Hoffmeister's Flute Concerto in D Major, and Sonata No. 6 in A Major by Luigi Boccherini.
Flutist, Christine Smith and cellist, Matthew Goeke will be the featured soloists. Miss Smith is a 1981 graduate of the Juilliard School of Music, Pre- College Division, and she holds a Masters Degree in Education. She has also received a Certificate of Commendation for Meritorious Achievement from the School of Orchestral Studies. Christine has toured England with the Stonybrook Wind Ensemble, and has performed at Paul Hall, Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, and the Saratoga Performing Arts Center. She regularly performs as a soloist with the Doansburg Chamber Ensemble, of which she is a charter member. Mr. Goeke received his BM and MM from the Manhattan School of Music. Matthew is principal cellist for the Orchestra of the SEM Ensemble, whose performances have been critically acclaimed in The New York Times. In NYC, he has performed with the Collegiate Chorale in their American premiere performance of Richard Strauss' Friedenstag, which was recorded live in Carnegie Hall in 1989. He has also been a member of the Musica Sacar Orchestra. Matt regularly performs with the Stamford Symphony and other regional ensembles
