Wonders of the Night: Putnam County Land Trust Program Investigates Insects in the Dark
On Saturday, August 4, at 8pm, join the Putnam County Land Trust and Dr. Mitch Wagener, noted entomologist from the University of Connecticut, as they are introduced to the group of insects that inhabit the night hours. Night flyers will be lured using special techniques to allow us to see them. Dr. Wagener will introduce participants to their names and tell us about their habits. Bring flashlights and curiosity, wear a hat and join the night time parade.
The program will take place on the Peach Lake Natural Preserve at 63 Cobb Road in Brewster at the rear of the Dorrie O'Brien House. All are welcome and there is no fee for the program.
Directions: From Route 22 and Route 6 in Brewster turn onto Starr Ridge Road. Continue 8/10 of a mile, turning left onto Cobb Road. Continue 4/10 mile to #63 on the right. Drop off passengers and continue to Peach Lake Brook Road on the left for parking.
