CreatABILITY '07 Arts Festival Celebrates Talents of Artists With Disabilities

Jess Because, Inc. is sponsoring createABILITY '07, an Arts Festival featuring works of visual and performing arts, by and about people with disabilities, held at the Westchester Institute for Human Development in Valhalla (WIHD), NY on August 25, 2007.

createABILITY '07 will open with an Art Show and Reception (4:30-6pm) followed by performances of music, dance, drama and poetry (6-9pm). The event will be a chance to showcase the many talents of artists with disabilities from all over New York State.

Jordan Jankus, founder and President of Jessica Because, Inc., comments that "The arts are a great way to show the world that there is great depth and feeling in each of us, no matter what society perceives as our "abilities". Each of us has unique and special contributions that we can bring to society".

Jess Because, Inc., a NYS not-for-profit, provides programs of arts-based experiential learning for teens and adults with disabilities. It began operations in 2006 and holds its classes at WIHD in Valhalla and other select locations in the Hudson Valley. The inspiration for the program came from Mr. Jankus' adult daughter, Jessica, a person with significant disabilities. Mr. Jankus felt that she should have the same opportunities for Lifelong Learning as everyone else, and saw that the arts could be a great a great way for her to experience stimulating and fun activities.

CreateABILITY '07 is open to the public and there will be a modest $10.00 admission charge for the event. Reservations are recommended.
