Marc Von Em Will Perform Third Year at Putnam Valley Sunset Series

Imagine sitting on a green field looking over the picturesque valley, watching the sun setting as some great music is playing. This will be the scenario at the Putnam Valley Sunset Series Marc Von Em Free Concert on August 14, at Leonard Wagner Memorial Town Park.

Opening the evening will be the band "Pieces". Inspired by a large breadth of different styles from the Talking Heads to Neutral Milk Hotel, Pieces brings intense performance standards to their carefully crafted songs. Brothers Nick and Mike Paliocha lock their guitar and bass together over Dan Koz's smart and furious drumming; topped off with lush three-part harmonies. The trio has found a home in the rock scene of the Bowery and Alphabet City alongside bands like the Fine Lines and Face of Cain and is currently working on their debut album - due to be released this fall.

The evening will be closed by a third year Sunset Series performer, Marc VonEm. Since the release of his debut CD in 1999, Marc VonEm has performed his brand of grooveoriented urban folk in venues, large and small, along the Eastern seaboard. From outdoor festivals to coffee houses, from bars to ballrooms, along the way selling 6,000 copies of his first recording, simply entitled VonEm. All told, Marc VonEm is a singer/songwriter of several different faces. His vast influences of the past show in his writing with sonic flavors of folk, blues, and classical, while lyrically gravitating towards intimate, memorable, stories of every day lives. On stage, Marc delivers high energy tales of hardship, homes and high times. His voice appears with dynamic emotion while his solid guitar playing keep the songs grounded.

Be ready to start humming some tunes, and join in the excitement. Don't forget your blanket or lawn chair. Come early and picnic or visit the Concessions. Most of all enjoy the fun!
