Registration Begins for Cancer Awareness Walk

Support Connection, Inc., a not-for-profit organization that provides free support services to people affected by breast and ovarian cancer, is now accepting registration for their 13th Annual Support-A-Walk to be held on September 30, 2007 at FDR State Park, Yorktown Heights.

The three-mile walkathon is held in the fall each year to increase awareness about breast and ovarian cancer, and to raise funds for Support Connection's free support services. The date is selected in honor of National Ovarian Awareness Cancer Month in September and National Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October. Many participants walk in honor of loved ones who have been affected by these diseases. Each year, thousands of area residents participate.

All are welcomed to walk as individuals or to form teams to walk together. There will be refreshments, musical entertainment, raffles, and face painting. Honorary Chairpersons are actress Glenn Close; Matt Sampson, morning and daytime co-anchor for News12 Westchester; and Brenda Resnick Spano, First Lady of Westchester and Child Care Advocate. Kacey Morabito, part the popular radio team" Mike and Kacey in the Morning" on 100.7 WHUD, will be the Emcee.

Registration for the 13th Annual Support-A-Walk can be done online at the Support Connection website www.supportconnection.org; by mail; or in-person at their office at 360 Underhill Avenue, Yorktown Heights. To obtain registration forms, call 914- 962-6402 or download a form at the website.

For more information about the Support-A-Walk, registration hours, or Support Connection's free support services, call 914-962-6402.

Support Connection's mission is to provide emotional, social and educational support services to women, their families and friends affected by breast and ovarian cancer. Services include peer counseling, support groups, wellness and educational programs, referral and information services, and a 24-hour toll-free cancer support hotline (800-532-4290.)
