Martin Hugh McGuire
Martin Hugh McGuire, age 25, of Philipstown, died on Sunday, August 5, 2007.
Born in Bronx, NY on July 29, 1982, he was the son of Martin McGuire and Christine (Downey) Dresser.
Mr. McGuire, a graduate of Pace University, was the Assistant to the Director of Natural Resources Protection for NY State Parks, Recreation, and Historic Sites. As an Ornithologist, he traveled extensively to study birds and nature. He was a member of the National Audubon Society's Putnam Highland Chapter, compiler of the Christmas Bird Count, and former member of the Board of Directors for the National Audubon Society. He was also active in the Taconic Outdoor Education Center. Marty was a gentle, kind man and nature enthusiast.
He is survived by his mother, Christine Dresser, and her husband, John, of Putnam Valley, NY, his father, Martin McGuire, of Catskill, NY, and one sister, Stephanie McGuire of Albany, NY, and maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Downey of Brooklyn, NY. His friend and mentor, Ralph O'Dell, many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins, and many, many loving friends also survive him.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am on Wednesday, August 8, 2007, at Our Lady of Loretto Church, 24 Fair St., Cold Spring, NY followed by interment at Cold Spring Cemetery. A viewing was held at the Clinton Funeral Home, Corn of Parrot & Pine Sts. (21 Parrott St) on Tuesday, August 7, 2007.
