Richard Shalvoy
Richard Shalvoy, 77, of Nashua died on Friday morning, August 3, 2007 at Greenbriar Terrace Healthcare in Nashua.
He was born in Brewster, New York on October 16, 1929, son of the late Raymond and Alice (Tilljander) Shalvoy. Mr. Shalvoy had been a resident of Nashua since 1966 and previously lived in South Plainfield and Bronx, New York.
Mr. Shalovy was the husband of Ruth (Callanan) Shalvoy whom he married on September 11, 1954.
He was an electrical engineer for Raytheon in Andover, Massachusetts. Mr. Shalvoy enjoyed his wife, kids, and family. He was a member of Nashua and Hudson Seniors and at one time a member of the Elks. Mr. Shalvoy was part of the Aquafit Group at the YMCA and acquired the nickname "Rooster." During the Korean Conflict, he served in the United States Airforce for five years retiring as a Staff Sergeant.
He graduated from Brewster High School, Class of 1947. Mr. Shalvoy then received his bachelor's degree at Manhattan College and master's degree from New York University. Mr. Shalvoy was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Parish and attended daily mass at St. Patrick's Church.
He was predeceased by a brother, Raymond Shalvoy. In addition to his wife of 52 years, survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Dawn and Daniel Gasca of San Diego, CA; three sons, Richard Shalvoy of Lake Tahoe, CA, David Shalvoy of Lynn, MA, and Michael Shalvoy of Carson City, NV; two granddaughters, Sarah Shalvoy of Tampa, FLand Rachel Gasca of San Diego, CA; a sister, Dorothy "Dolly" Cucinell of Bronxville, NY and Bonita Springs, Fl; and several nieces and nephews.
Services: there are no visiting hours. A Memorial Mass will be held at Immaculate Conception Parish, Nashua, on Saturday August 11, 2007 at 10am. Friends are invited to attend. Interment prayers and burial will be held at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Hudson on Monday August 13, 2007 at 9am. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider a donation to the "Elevator Fund" at Holy Cross Order, c/o Sister Jacqueline Brodeur, CSC, 377 Island Pond Road, Manchester, NH 03109- 4811.
