Youth Charged With Assaulting Girlfriend in Putnam Valley
Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the arrest of Mr. Tyler A. Kubichko, aged 16, of Putnam Valley was arrested on August 6, 2007, on charges of assaulting and menacing his 18-yearold girlfriend.
According to reports, Mr. Kubichko and his girlfriend were at the victim's residence on Monday afternoon when they got into an argument. She alleges that Mr. Kubichko picked up a chair and wielded it over her head as if he would strike her with it, grabbed her by the arm, knocked her down and threatened to injure her.
The victim left the residence and went to the Sheriffs Department substation located on Peekskill Hollow Road in Putnam Valley. The defendant reportedly followed her for a distance on a skateboard and continued to utter physical threats against her.
Deputies took the victim's complaint and canvassed the area for Mr. Kubichko, whom Deputy Johnathan Bradley sighted a short time later walking along Sunset Hill Road. Deputy Bradley arrested the defendant and arraigned him before Carmel Town Justice Joseph Spofford, acting on behalf of the Putnam Valley Justice Court. The justice remanded him to the Putnam County Correctional Facility in lieu of $2,500 cash bail and issued an order of protection ordering him to stay away from the victim.
Mr. Kubichko is scheduled to appear in the Putnam Valley Justice Court on August 16th. He faces misdemeanor counts of assault and menacing, which upon conviction could result in penalties ranging up to one year's Incarceration and a $1,000 fine on each count.
