Enjoy Day's Worth of Outdoor Fun at Scenic Hudson's Parks Festival

Scenic Hudson's Parks Festival, a daylong celebration of summer featuring lots of outdoor fun, will take place at three of the organization's most popular mid-Hudson parks on Saturday, Aug. 25. Festivities begin at Gateway to Mount Beacon Park in Beacon, Dutchess County. From 8 to 10 a.m., guides will lead a rigorous, one-mile ramble to the top of Mount Beacon, where hikers will enjoy spectacular views and a bluegrassaccompanied breakfast. A picnic and river-related activities will be featured at Esopus Meadows Preserve in Esopus, Ulster County, from noon to 2 p.m. Family-oriented games, music and refreshments will be the highlights at Poets' Walk Park in Red Hook, Dutchess County, from 4 to 6pm. All events are free and open to the public. Pre-registration is encouraged. Participants should wear sturdy shoes and bring sunscreen and bug repellant.

Scenic Hudson works to protect and restore the Hudson River and its majestic landscape as an irreplaceable national treasure and a vital resource for residents and visitors. A crusader for the valley since 1963, they are credited with saving fabled Storm King Mountain from a destructive industrial project and launching the modern grass-roots environmental movement. Today with more than 20,000 ardent supporters, they are the largest environmental group focused on the Hudson River Valley. Visit sww.scenichudson.org for more information.

For more information, directions and to pre-register for these events, log onto www.scenichudson.org/events or contact Vickie Muller at 845 473 4440, ext. 270.
