Celebrate Summer Reading with Ice Cream at Butterfield Library this Saturday
Have you completed your Get a Clue @ Your Library summer reading program? If you have, The Butterfield Library would like to congratulate you with an Ice Cream Party on Saturday, August 25 at 12:30pm.
The party is open to all participants in the Get a Clue @ Your Library program. Throughout the summer nearly 100 children in preschool through grade 6 signed up for this mystery-themed reading program. Family readers or prereaders earned a prize for every 10 books read to them. Newly independent readers received a prize for every five books they read on their own. Advanced readers earned stamps for every chapter book read that they then turned in for prizes. Those who have not yet claimed their prizes, may do so at the party.
To add fun to the summer, the Library hosted several clueoriented events including weekly story hours with mystery tales and related crafts; a Nancy Drew Hidden Staircase party; a Blue's Clues party; a program where attendees learned about mysterious intertidal creatures; and a literary scavenger hunt. Many of the Library's regular program participants were joined by families visiting from other places including California and New York City.
Please call the Library at 265- 3040 or email the program coordinator at mcgrathm@bestweb.net to register for the Ice Cream Party. The Library is located at 10 Morris Avenue, Cold Spring.
