Book Sale Winners Drawn at the Desmond-Fish Library
Connor O'Reilly closed his eyes and pulled four winning names at the Desmond-Fish Library in Garrison on August 15. Since May, a glass fish bowl had been filling up with the names of people getting library cards. Other fish bowls contained the names of children who have read for at least 15 minutes a day for 30 days, and adults who have read 10 books this summer. The lucky winners have received gift certificates for $30 for adults, and $15 for children, to the book sale. Since most books for adults are just $2, and books for children are just $1, the certificates can buy a lot of books.
Eager buyers began lining up at 4pm on Friday the 17th for the 7pm opening of the Desmond-Fish Library Book Sale. Every child who visits the sale through Sunday the 26th will also be able to pick one free book from the children's section of the sale. The book sale will be open from 2-5pm on Monday through Friday, August 20 to 24, 10am to 5pm on Saturday the 25th, and 1pm to 5pm on Sunday the 26th. For more information, please call 424-3020.
