Nelsonville Artist Carla Goldberg Exhibits in Manhattan
Nelsonville Artist Carla Goldberg in a three-person show Eternal Echo at A-forest Gallery. This is the artist's first show in Manhattan. The gallery is located right in the heart of the Chelsea Art District.
Says the artist, "The play of light seen behind a transparent surface is a theme that runs through all of my work. Part meditative, my paintings are as much about transformation, evolution and juxtaposition as they are about finding small hidden moments. I paint abstracted Hudson River landscapes using layers of paint embedded in layers of resin and wax. Each layer brings you closer to the past, a sort of archaeology of brush strokes. I love textures and rich patinas giving a dimension of age and variation to the surface, which evoke a sense of history. The boxes cut and glued into the canvas surface of my pieces are meant to give you the feeling of digging into the past. "
The show runs from Tuesday, Sept.4 - Saturday September 22.
Gallery Hours are Tues.-Sat. 11am-5pm. Sundays by appointment. An opening Reception will be held on Saturday, Sept. 8, from 6-8pm.
A-forest Gallery is located at 134 West 29th Street, Suite 1010(10F), New York. For more information, contact 212- 673-1168 or visit www.aforestgallery. com.
