Music Under the Stars Finale at West Point

Singer George Dvorsky
The United States Military Academy Band will conclude its popular "Music Under the Stars" concert series with the annual 1812 Overture concert. Held on Saturday, September 1 at West Point's Trophy Point Amphitheatre, the festivities will begin at 7:30pm. Please note, in case of inclement weather, the concert will occur at Trophy Point Amphitheatre on Sunday, September 2 (at the same aforementioned time).

The Concert Band's performance will showcase the talent of George Dvorsky. Mr. Dvorsky, a singer and actor, has been featured on Broadway and venues such as the North Shore Music Theater (Massachusetts), the Ogunquit Playhouse (Maine) and the Covent Garden (London). Mr. Dvorsky can also be heard on the cast and studio recordings of Beauty and the Beast, Brigadoon, Broadway Showstoppers and The Jerome Kern Treasury

Mr. Dvorsky will join Academy Band vocalist Sgt. 1st Class MaryKay Messenger in a collection of songs written by the legendary Charles Strouse. In addition, Academy Band clarinetist Sgt. 1st Class John Parrette will be a featured soloist in his own arrangement of Variations on a Village Air by Louis Cahuzac. The program will conclude with a performance of Tschaikovsky's 1812 Overture, complete with cannon and fireworks.

Please allow extra travel time for the 100% vehicle and photo I.D. inspection at Stony Lonesome and Thayer gates. Due to changing security requirements at West Point, call the Academy Band's hotline at 845-938- 2617, or check www.usma.edu/ special before leaving for the concert.
