Mid-Hudson Ballet to Hold Auditions for Children

The non-profit Mid-Hudson Ballet company has announced that auditions will be held for children desiring to study Classical Ballet. Those accepted will be given a $327 scholarship to train in the Russian Ballet School from September to June. This school is unique as it is the only one in the area working with this curriculum under which Nureyev, Baryshnikov, and Makarova studied. Estelle & Alfonso were trained in this method and have visited the Leningrad Choreographic School in the Soviet Union. The lesson plans used in the Russian Ballet School provide the students with challenges. Students are never bored. The body is trained to feel the movements via a detailed breakdown of each exercise or step. The system produces a beautiful dancer by coordinating the head, body, arms, legs, and feet as one. The beauty and exactness of each step is apparent.

The children auditioning do no need to have prior training, just a desire to learn and a love for Ballet. Children with previous training should also apply. Again this season, Estelle & Alfonso, who are the children/ teen coordinators for the Moscow Ballet, will work on the Great Russian Nutcracker to be presented at the Mid- Hudson Civic Center this December. Children from the Russian Ballet School are most often selected to perform with these professional dancers from Russia.

The audition time is scheduled for 2pm on Saturday, August 25 at Estelle & Alfonso's Performing Arts Complex on Route 9, next to Splash Down in Fishkill. Call 845-897-2667 for further information or visit www.estelleandalfonso.com for a virtual tour of the complex.
