Love It by Leaving it the Way You Found It
To the Editor:

Moffatt Road…leave it alone!

"Improving" Moffat is a waste of money. As Mrs. O'Neill states "improving " roads leads to increased traffic and higher speeds. We all know that speed literally kills . ..so if its safety we're really concerned about, lets leave these back roads just the way they are, perhaps adding a "thankyou -ma'am" or two.

Are we making "improvements" because Mr. Merante is "scared" or because Mr. Duncan puts forth a worst case scenario..what if? "someone gets killed?" These are shallow and disingenuous arguments at best! Has there ever been a (serious) accident on Moffatt Rd? For that matter, has there ever been a fatality on any of the back roads, dirt roads in Philipstown? Contrast these statistics with the scenario of what happens on Rte. 9 every time "improvements " are made.... higher speeds... more serious accidents and even fatalities.

I say it's a good thing that Mr. Merante is "scared" to drive Moffatt Rd. I wish others were equally scared to drive on Indian Brook ,Avery and Old Albany Post and the other wonderful "back roads" of Philipstown. That would help maintain our quiet and peaceful neighborhoods; save gas and keep our roads even safer for those of us who live on them.

So. leave Moffatt Rd. (and the rest of them) well enough alone. Take that $160,000 bucks and give it back to the overburdened taxpayers.
