Beacon Hebrew Alliance Holds Open House to Introduce Community Members to their Congregation

Beacon Hebrew Alliance is pleased and proud to welcome Josh Wohl as its new Rabbi. He will be conducting his first service at BHA on Friday, September 7 at 7:30pm. All are welcome to attend. Rabbi Wohl is originally from Detroit, attended the University of Michigan 1998-2002, is a 4th year rabbinical student at the Jewish Theological Seminary, and spent last year studying at Machon Schechter in Jerusalem. He and his wife Julie have an 11-month-old son named Sam.

In addition, BHA has hired Ellen Gersh as Cantor and Director of the Religious School. Most recently she has held the same position at Greenwich Reform Synagogue in Greenwich, Conn. for the last four years. She and her husband Michael have a son and a daughter.

BHA is having an Open House on Sunday, September 9, from 10am to 12pm. The synagogue is located at 331 Verplanck Avenue in Beacon (phone: 831-2012). You are invited to experience first-hand the positive aspects of a small family-oriented conservative congregation. Learn about the Tots Program, the wonderful Hebrew School, the many family events held on a regular basis, and the Adult Education that is available.

BHA is in the process of expanding its Jewish Studies program with regard to Hebrew language, liturgy, history, music, dance and art for the entire school. The Tot Shabbot program will now include interaction with the Cantor. She is planning music, art, and story with BHA's youngest members. This is sure to be an exciting and dynamic season- why not stop by and learn more about what BHA has to offer?
