Noisy Insects? Hudson Highlands Nature Museum Has the Answers
On Saturday, September 8, at 10am, the Hudson Highlands Nature Museum will answer the question, "Who are those Noisy Insects?" This time of year the air is filled with the humming and buzzing of interesting insect sounds; have you ever wondered who is making them?
Come to the Museum's, newly renamed, Outdoor Discovery Center location, 20 Kenridge Farm Drive, Route 9W, Cornwall, to find out. You will meet: katydids, crickets and possibly a cicada!
Learn how to tell the outdoor temperature by actually counting cricket chirps. You will also discover where a katydid's ears are, hint: they are not on its head. It doesn't end there. Come take a short "insect hike" and make a clever cicada craft to take home.
This program is suggested for adults and children ages 5 and up. The cost is $5. Members are $3. For more information, call (845) 534-5506, ext 204. To find out more about the Museum and the many interesting programs offered, visit the website at www.hhnaturemuseum.org.
