Putnam ARC Provides Support Groups for Persons With Brain Injuries

For more than a dozen years, Putnam ARC has been providing support groups for persons with brain injuries as well as significant others, professionals and interested parties.

The next cycle of weekly groups will commence in September. Josephine Todaro, PARC's brain injury coordinator, is currently interviewing candidates for an eight week session that uses a cognitive approach to enhancing interpersonal effectiveness, communication skills and problem solving techniques.

This weekly group is held at the PARC Center on route 6 in Carmel. The professional team of four facilitators consist of an MSW, clinical psychologist, neuropsychologist and certified brain injury specialist.

PARC has received recognition for this group work - in part, funding has been provided by the United Way of Westchester/Putnam counties as well as the Christopher Reeves Foundation.

Additional brain injury support groups are available in Dutchess and Ulster counties on a monthly basis. For further information or to schedule an interview, contact Josephine Todaro, CBIS, at PARC (845- 278-7272, ext. 300).
