Garden and Landscaping Workshop Offered by Cornell Cooperative Extension
Now that the hottest weather is over and the soil is still warm, it's the best time to garden, gather new ideas and get a head start on spring.
Cornell Cooperative Extension and the Master Gardener volunteers will sponsor a halfday garden and landscaping workshop on Saturday, October 13, 2007, to help homeowners learn:
-How stone walls and paths can add design impact ·How to deal with deer, using the latest proven techniques ·How to prune, plant, work on lawns and prepare for spring ·How to use spring-flowering bulbs to make a powerful color statement.
The half-day workshop was designed in response to the favorable comments from attendees at the Master Gardeners' Spring Garden School. At this half-day event, there will be, as requested, a longer question and-answer session, during which the professional Horticulture staff and Master Gardeners will discuss topics raised by participants.
In addition to the classes and question-and-answer session, participants will have an opportunity to buy deer-resistant spring bulbs selected especially by Master Gardener volunteers to add beauty to Putnam County gardens.
The October 13 workshop will be held from 8:30 to 12:30 (registration is 8am) at the Putnam County Emergency Training Center, Donald B. Smith Campus, 112 Old Route 6, in Carmel. Registration is $20 per person and includes coffee and muffins. Participants can download the registration form at www.cce.cornell.edu/ putnam or by calling 845-278- 6738. Pre-register by October 5, please.
