East Fishkill Library's September Programs Include Workshops for Excel, Word, Chess Review, Knitting and Tai Chi

On Tuesday, September 11, 2007 from 6-7:30pm there will be a free educational seminar on Using Excel Spreadsheets. Michael Kuchman, long-time user of Excel will share his expertise with Excel. Learn how to use more of the functionality of Excel in your projects. If you have a specific use for this spreadsheet program, bring your laptop and work along with the class.

Also on Tuesday, September 11, 2007 Chess Review will take place from 2-4pm for Chess Review. This is an adult group newly formed at the Library to learn, or refresh their chess skills. Dick Heverly will lead this bi-monthly session for those adults interested in learning and reviewing the game of chess. Instruction will be provided if desired. Game boards and pieces will be supplied. Open to all levels. The group meets on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month - new day and time. Space is limited to 20 players, and reservations are required.

If you love to knit, or want to learn, come to the Library on Wednesday, September 12, 2007 at 7pm for the knitting group. This group is scheduled to meet the second Wednesday of each month for two hours of fiber fun. Bring your projects, and join in with others to talk yarns, patterns and share expertise. All levels of knitters are welcome.

On four consecutive Thursdays beginning September 13, 2007, Laurie Brogan, 3rd degree Black Belt and owner of Southern Dutchess Kempo Karate School will lead a free weekly Tai Chi class. Learn the basic movements to the age old practice of Tai Chi and feel revitalized. This is a four week class - with progressive instruction to teach you the basic Tai Chi movements. Class will meet in the Alley Community Room from 2-3pm on Thursday September 13, 20, 27 and October 4, 2007. The classes are free; however space is limited, so reservations are required.

Chartered in 1938, the East Fishkill Community Library is a member of the Mid-Hudson Library System. The library is located at 348 Route 376 in Hopewell Junction. Library activities are listed on the website. Library hours are Monday - Thursday 10am-8pm, Friday 10am-6pm, and Saturday 10am-5pm.
