September Registrations for Mahopac and Putnam Valley SeniorNet Classes

Registrations for fall SeniorNet computer classes, sponsored by the William Koehler Mahopac Office for the Aging SeniorNet Center, will be on Thursday, September 20 in Mahopac, and Thursday, September 27 in Putnam Valley. The Mahopac Senior Center is located at 180 Route Six in Mahopac, and the Putnam Valley Senior Center is located at 117 Town Park Lane in Putnam Valley. Registration hours will be 9am-12pm.

Registrations for the following courses will be for classes given October through December: - Computer Fundamentals for the computer novice who wishes to learn basic skills. No prior experience is necessary

-Introduction to Word Processing reviews the basic skills and focuses on Word Processing using Microsoft Word

-Internet and Email Basics teaches the fundamentals of sending and responding to Email as well as how to use Internet Explorer and Yahoo

-Customizing Windows teaches setting preferences for the Desktop, Taskbar, Start Menu and Quick launch toolbar and managing windows XP settings and creating folders and shortcuts

-Digital Camera teaches using camera controls, basic composition, how and where to process pictures, and capturing pictures for saving

The registration days will also offer the following free SeniorNet Workshops: Beginners Workshop, Mail Merge, Life Bio, Genealogy, Buying a Computer, and Computer Security.

SeniorNet is a nonprofit organization founded in 1986 and is dedicated to providing senior adults with educational opportunities to use computers and access the internet. Classes have "seniors teaching seniors" and are limited to six students with a coach for each two students plus an instructor. Students receive manuals for each class and also have the opportunity for a practice session with a SeniorNet volunteer on Thursdays.
