First-ever Putnam Valley Nature Photography Contest Seeking Submissions
The Putnam Valley Commission for the Conservation of the Environment (PVCCE) and Putnam Valley Arts are co-sponsoring the first-ever Putnam Valley Nature Photography Contest. Putnam Valley town is home to an incredible diversity of flora and fauna that goes unseen in our daily lives. All Putnam Valley residents are invited to get outside with their cameras and to re-acquaint themselves with the turtles, mushrooms, birds, and other animals and plants in the town.
Ribbons will be awarded for the best botanical/zoological photographs. A separate judging category has been created for photographs that best exemplify the town's natural character whether it be our lakes and streams, woodlands, or rocky ridges. Share your artistic talents with your neighbors and remind them of why we need to protect our natural heritage.
Photographs should be taken within Putnam Valley. Submissions should be a minimum of 4"x6" and maximum of 16"x20", and should be framed, matted, and ready for display. Submissions are to be given to Anne Spoonhour at the Putnam Valley Town Hall prior to September 14, 2007.
Submissions will be displayed at Town Day on September 15 and subsequently in Town Hall. Winners will be awarded ribbons. Contact Taro Ietaka at 914-760-5535 (taro@planet-save.com) or Anne Spoonhour at 845-526-3050 (grspoonhour @earthlink.net) for more information.
