Serious Auto Accident on Route 9D Causes Medevac Evacuation by Mike Turton
A single-car accident at 4am Sunday, September 2, 2007 resulted in the injured driver being flown by Medevac helicopter to Westchester Medical Center. The accident took place on Route 9D near Garrison Inn Lane. The car struck a tree causing extensive damage to the vehicle and trapping the driver inside. Garrison Volunteer Fire Department and Garrison Volunteer Ambulance Corps responded. The "Jaws of Life" had to be used to remove the driver from the car. There were no passengers. Garrison Ambulance transported the victim, a male, to the playing field opposite Garrison School where Cold Spring Volunteer Fire Department had assisted by securing the landing zone for the Medevac helicopter. At press time the New York State Police would release no details regarding the condition of the driver or the cause of the accident.
