Family Fun Day Diabetes Fundraiser at All Sport
The Vinny Zaccheo Memorial Fund is hosting a Family Fun Day, 5K Race and Round Robin Tennis Tournament to benefit a great cause, the American Diabetes Association. Events will be held at All Sport Fishkill's Outdoor Park on Sunday, Sept. 9, 2007.
Family Fun Day runs from 11am to 3pm. Events will be held rain or shine. One price covers all activities and fabulous food at Family Fun Day. Activities include a silent auction, live music, D.J. Caspar, basketball and sand volleyball. All Sport Fishkill's three heated pools and outdoor hot tub will be open for all to enjoy. For the kids, a bounce castle, face painting and ice cream will be sure to make their day.
The 5K race starts at 10am, with pre-registration at 8:30am. The race will feature a unique way to time the racers. Each individual athlete will have a computer chip attached to their shoelace. An automatic timing system will accurately record race times. Results will then be posted on line. For more information about the race, visit Mid-Hudson Road Runners Club's website at www.mhrrc.org. A round robin tennis tournament will also be held at All Sport Fishkill's Outdoor Park, beginning at 10am. Registration forms for the 5K race and tennis tournament are available at All Sport Fishkill and Joe's Italian Marketplace in Fishkill.
Proceeds will be donated to the American Diabetes Association in memory of Vinny Zaccheo. Vinny's passing two years ago had a profound effect on his family and friends. It was at the urging of these friends that a memorial fund was created as a way of paying tribute to his memory. Vinny's Type 2 diabetes did not stop him from being a dear friend to many, as well as a respected member of the business community.
The fund's goal is to help to find a cure for this disease that affects so many people. By raising monies for the American Diabetes Association, the fund hopes to contribute to efforts being made to educate our community about diabetes and its effects on the heart, eyes and other parts of the body. Donations collected will go directly to diabetes educational programs in Dutchess County.
