Special Registration Hours Announced for Local Cancer Walk

Support Connection, Inc., a not-for-profit organization offering free, confidential support services to people affected by breast and ovarian cancer, is holding special extended hours for pre-registration for their 13th Annual Support-AWalk.

The Walk, which will take place on Sunday, September 30, 2007 (rain or shine) at FDR Park, Route 202, Yorktown Heights, is held to increase awareness of breast and ovarian cancer, and to raise funds for Support Connection's free services. Founded in 1996, Support Connection's mission is to provide emotional, social and educational support services to women, their families and friends affected by breast and ovarian cancer.

The extended pre-registration hours for the Support-A-Walk will be at the Support Connection office at 360 Underhill Avenue, Yorktown Heights, as follows:

Saturdays: September 8, 15 and 29: 10am-4pm;Weekdays, September 24-28, 10am- 7:30pm. The Support Connection office is open other weekdays in September from 9am- 5pm. Pre-registration can also be done by phone at 914-962- 6402, or online at www.supportconnection.org.

All are welcome to participate in the Support-A-Walk. Families, friends, co-workers and teams of walkers are invited to walk together. Individuals are also welcome to participate. There is no fee to register or attend, but pre-registration is encouraged.

The Support-A-Walk was founded thirteen years ago by local residents as a way to raise awareness about breast and ovarian cancer. Each year, thousands of people take part in this spirited, uplifting event. Honorary Chairpersons for 2007 are: award-winning actress Glenn Close; Matt Sampson, morning and daytime co-anchor for News Westchester; and First Lady of Westchester and Child Care Advocate Brenda Resnick Spano. Master of ceremony for the event will be Kacey Morabito of the popular radio team "Mike and Kacey in the Morning" on 100.7 WHUD.
