PARC Hosts 15th Annual Radio & Cablethon
Event is largest single fundraiser for Putnam County-based non-profit

PARC will host its 15th Annual Cablethon on Saturday, September 15, 2007, the nonprofit agency's single largest fundraiser of the year.

For the past 14 years, PARC has featured this fundraiser live on local Channel 8, now owned by Comcast. New for this 15th anniversary year, PARC will host a WHUD/100.7 FM Radiothon in conjunction with the Cablethon broadcast.

WHUD's award-winning morning show duo, Mike & Kacey, will host the broadcast from noon-2pm September 15 live from PARC Center, 1938 Route 6, Carmel. The Mike & Kacey show will be taped and re-broadcast on Comcast Channel 8 on Sept. 18 and 20.

Recognized as a 501 c (3) in 1954, PARC provides programming and advocacy for over 640 children and adults with developmental disabilities within Putnam County and in southern Dutchess and northern Westchester counties. Money raised at PARC's fundraising events, including the annual cablethon, directly benefit and impact consumers and their programs.

PARC's Radio & Cablethon broadcast is an opportunity to celebrate PARC's commitment to providing exceptional services for children and adults with developmental disabilities and applaud the agency and staff's many accomplishments.

This year's live broadcast will include discussion of current issues in the area of developmental disabilities, guest interviews and visits from local leaders, members of the business community, PARC program participants and family members.

In addition to the broadcast, a Family Fun Fest will also be held at PARC Center featuring the WHUD Wheel of Prizes, face painting, The Green Chimneys "Farm on the Moove" petting zoo, live art demonstrations, and a barbecue.

"PARC's Cablethon is a oneday celebration of the accomplishments of our children and adults in the Putnam County community and a time when we can say "thank you" to our dedicated sponsors and donors live on the air," said PARC Executive Director Susan Limongello. "In a time when service needs and costs continue to rise, your partnership with PARC is essential, to help us continue to provide programs and care for our 640 developmentally disabled children and adults. A pledge to this year's Radio & Cablethon will assist PARC with its vision of providing exceptional services to our consumers."

Pledges and donations may be made in several ways for this year's PARC Cablethon:
