Supervisor Mazzuca Seeks Relection
"Bill Mazzuca is announcing he will seek reelection as your Town Supervisor. As a life-long resident of our town, Bill has been involved in our community in many ways.
"Bill served on the Village of Cold Spring Zoning Board of Appeals until his election as Village Trustee. After serving 3 terms, Bill was elected as Town Councilman and then as our Town Supervisor in 1994. Bill is also the Town Budget Officer.
"Bill is most proud of his volunteer service to our community. While serving on the Village Board, he was the liaison to the Village Recreation Commission, as well as the liaison to the Marathon Battery Site Superfund Clean-up Project. He has coached T-Ball, Little League Minors teams, and for over 20 years, coached in the Town's Recreation Basketball Program. For over 25 years, Bill and his wife Christine, volunteered their time and efforts to the "Bearing Gifts Foundation" which gives new and refurbished Teddy Bears to children in hospitals. Bill is an usher at the St. Josephs Catholic Chapel in Garrison.
"In 2005, Bill was honored to receive the 2nd Annual Patricia Adams Community Volunteer Service Award presented by the Desmond-Fish Library.
"Supervisor Mazzuca has also volunteered his time with regional and statewide committees. He is a member of The Hudson River Valley Greenway Conservancy and serves on its Grants and Agriculture sub-committees. Bill has served on the Governor's Task Force to Improve Hudson River Access; the statewide Criminal Prosecution Task Force, as well as the statewide Commissioner's Training Advisory Council. He was also appointed to the Putnam County Veterans Retirement Home Advisory Board; and the Dutchess County United Way/ S.E.F.A. Executive Board. Bill served, on a volunteer basis, as the Treasurer of The Matteawan Federal Credit Union for over 20 years.
"Supervisor Mazzuca is a Summa Cum Laude graduate of Mercy College. He was honorably discharged from the United States Army, serving from 1967 to 1970, and is presently a member of The American Legion.
"After a 32-year career in N.Y.S. Corrections, Bill retired in 2005 as Superintendent of the Fishkill Correctional Facility, Since then, Bill assumed the duty of Homeland Security Liaison for The New York Power Authority,
"Supervisor Mazzuca is proud of the fact that the town's Comprehensive Plan was adopted by his administration and looks forward to the imminent adoption of new Zoning Laws based on that plan. "We are very close to passing the Storm Water Management law and within the next few months, we will adopt the Master Plan for the Recreation Department. Also thanks to the efforts of the Town Board, especially Councilwoman Budney, the leadership of our State Senator, Vincent Leibell and Assemblywoman Sandy Galef, starting in Fiscal Year 2008, the Town will start receiving State tax dollars for Stateowned land in the town."
"Bill is married to Christine O'Connor Mazzuca. They have three children, Vincent, Laurel and Dennis."
