In response to last week's letter "An Observation" Dear Editor:
I came home from vacation in South Carolina on Sunday night, Sept. 2. As I went about my week, on Thursday morning I received a phone call from a good friend asking if I had read the local paper, the Letters to the Editor. I said I had not and she proceeded to read to me this letter that I am referring to, "An Observation."
It was interesting and upsetting to both of us because it referred to a white bulldog, which I have, and the area in town where I live. It referred to a woman, which I am, wearing a baseball cap which I don't own and never have worn. Also interesting was the fact that I was sleeping in a hotel at 7am, the time this observation took place, in Virginia.
If you read the letter, what was upsetting was that this person was observed pulling flowers out of the new condo property and walking back to where I live with the bulldog. And what upset me even more was to continue to get emails, phone calls and instant messages about this letter. Although, most of them were comforting because the parties contacting me all knew it was not and could not have been me that morning.
I prefer not to comment on what I discovered as to the conclusion to this story. But I wanted to let all of you know who were wondering out there that this was not me. Why, because I don't think it's right to go on private property either, like Frank, and take flowers. I only wish that Frank had gone up to that person and said what he thought of their action, rather than writing the letter. He would then have found out that the owner was not walking her dog at 7am that Sunday morning. Unfortunately, his letter caused stress to an innocent party.
