Bannerman Island Gallery to Present New works by Jamie Grossman and Walter Mosley

| The next exhibit at Bannerman Island Gallery will feature landscapes by Jamie Grossman and Walter Mosley, both known for their outstanding oils. The show will open on Beacon's Second Saturday, October 13. Meet the artists at an opening reception from 4 to 6pm.
Jamie Williams Grossman is a Signature Member of New York Plein Air Painters. She serves on their Advisory Board and also as the head of their Lower Hudson Valley chapter. Jamie's paintings have been featured in USA Weekend, Plein Air Magazine (twice), the Catskill Region Guide, Poughkeepsie Journal, and Bedford Record Review.
Jamie paints mostly in oils, but frequently uses other mediums such as pastel, acrylic, gouache, watercolor and casein. She nearly always paints from life, with subjects ranging from portraits, homes and figures to animals, landscapes, and still life. Her work resides in private collections in Canada and Europe, as well as throughout the United States. She maintains her own studio in the Lower Hudson Valley, but prefers the "outdoor" studio.
Walter Mosley began drawing at an early age and always considered a life in art. After a year of college in Texas, he left his southern roots and began his first serious study with portrait artist Bob Gerbracht in San Jose, California. Later he returned to college, receiving a BA in Art from San Jose State University. Upon graduation, Walter moved to New York and began studying at the Art Students League. Walter has lived in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn, NY since 1989.
Walter is an American Artists Professional League Fellow, a member of the Salmagundi Club and has shown at the National Arts Club in New York, Greenhouse Gallery of Art in San Antonio, Texas and other national exhibitions.. During 2007 he has exhibited with the American Impressionist Society at the Hilligoss Galleries in downtown Chicago and is presently exhibiting in the Land and Light Exhibition at the Bryan Memorial Gallery in Jeffersonville, Vermont. He will be in the upcoming Audubon Artists 65th Annual Exhibition at the Salmagundi Club in New York.
50% of the proceeds from the show will be donated to The Bannerman Castle Trust, Inc. for preservation of Bannerman Island. The Bannerman Castle Trust, Inc. has received a NYS Parks EPF Challange grant for $350,000 to stabilize the residence on Bannerman Island.
Bannerman Island Gallery is open Fridays Saturdays and Sundays from 12 noon till 5pm, from 12 noon till 9pm on Second Saturdays, and by appointment.
