Thomas Earl to Make Second Appearance at Chthonic Clash Coffeehouse
BMI recording artist and local Cold Spring resident, Thomas Earl will be appearing on Saturday, September 22 at the Chthonic Clash Coffeehouse, 453 Main Street, Beacon. Thomas will play two sets beginning at 8pm. He will be performing original songs from his acclaimed new CD, Golddust Magic, new songs from his upcoming CD to be released this fall, and some classic covers. Thomas Earl is a seasoned singer-songwriter whose career has spanned nearly four decades. His music has been described as classic folk, and his style has been compared to artists ranging from James Taylor and Gordon Lightfoot to Tom Rush.
Golddust Magic has already been receiving rave reviews. Muzikman.com selected it as their "CD Pick of the Week" and stated in their review:..."Earl is a gifted poet that has the ability to set it all to music in a beautiful and unforgettable way that few artists have the ability or insight to accomplish in one recording."… Liz Redwing, an A&R scout with Atlantic Records has described Thomas as; "An excellent, talented singersongwriter… classic songs and performances in the spirit of James Taylor and Gordon Lightfoot."
Several other local Cold Spring residents were involved in the Golddust Magic project. Joe Johnson, owner of Red Wally Music Productions, who has worked with such artists as Keith Richards, Johnny Winter and Joan Jett, engineered the CD and was a coproducer. Jerry Krenach, another Cold Spring based musician, who has performed with such artists as Chris Whitley, David Byrne and Darryl Hall, plays drums on the CD. New York City based session musicians; Scott Sharrard and Sean Dixon produced the project and contributed guitar, keyboard and percussion tracks.
