All About My Mother Screens at Howland Library
On Friday, September 28 at 7pm, the Howland Public Library Film Series will be showing All About My Mother (1999) free to the public.
This Oscar winner for Best Foreign Language Film examines the life of Manuela, who leaves Madrid for Barcelona shortly after she witnesses her son's accidental death. She reunites with an old friend, a pre-op transsexual prostitute, who introduces her to Rosa, a pregnant nun. Their fast friendship binds them through many struggles. All About My Mother is in Spanish with English subtitles. The film is directed by Pedro Almandovar, runs 101 minutes, and is rated R.
