Artist Alex Shundi Adds New Class at Arts on the Lake

Internationally renowned artist Alexander Bocchialini Shundi has expanded his art course offerings to include an art appreciation class entitled Understanding Modern Art. The class will meet on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 to 9pm (no class on Oct. 16) for eight weeks and will review modern art from 1860 to present day by exploring how historical, social and political events influenced artists and their aesthetic values.

Shundi received his BFA and MFA from Yale University. He also trained at the Ecole des Beaux Artes in Paris and the Academia Di Belle Arti Di Brera in Milan. He has taught at WCAC, SUNY Purchase, the University of Bridgeport, and Silvermine College in New Canaan, CT. He originated and was Dean of the LaCoste- Silvermmine School of Art in Provence, France and the Art Works Forum in Millerton, NY. He also served as Dean of Painting at the Santa Fe International Academy of Art. His work was most recently on exhibit at New Art Gallery in Litchfield, CT. Residents may still sign up for Sifu David Wong Yee's ongoing Tai-Chi Chuan classes offered on Saturdays from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Yee has studied and practiced the Chinese Martial Arts for more than 30 years. Novice and seasoned Martial Artists are welcome. For registration contact Yee at: yeetaichi@yahoo.com. Fee: $100 per 6 weeks, $90 for AotL members.
