September 29 is Family Day at Constitution Island
Historical site's end-of-season event offers a wide variety of outdoor family fun

On Saturday, September 29th, 10am to 3pm, the Constitution Island Association will host Family Day- its final Saturday event of the season whereby families traditionally spend the day enjoying a wide variety of outdoor entertainment. The day's special fun is listed below:

-Hudson River Boat Rides are scheduled every 45 minutes and launch from the Constitution Island dock.

-Horse & Carriage Rides will be offered throughout the day.

-Children's Entertainment is provided by a favorite storyteller ("Music with Stacey") to delight all with charming stories and music at the scheduled times of 11am and 2pm.

-Beekeeping presentation by Bee-keeper George Kummer will include an exhibition, a talk at 1pm about the important role bees play in our world, and the sale of jarred honey made by Kummer's bees.

-Raptors and educators from the Teatown Reservation in Westchester will be on site all day- and offering wonderful, informative presentations using the live birds of prey, with guest interaction encouraged.

-Gardeners with interest in "gardening for birds" can share this interest at the gardeners' table.

-Warner House Guided Tours will be available throughout the day.

-Revolutionary Ruins Guided Tours will be available throughout the day.

-Hiking the many miles of trails on Constitution Island's 280 acres is encouraged. Maps of the Island may be obtained at the entrance gate or in the bookshop.

-Picnicking on the lawn and enjoying the majestic Hudson River views is recommended between the day's scheduled fun. Hot dogs and light refreshments will be available, or bring your own picnic lunch.

Admission is $10; children 6 and under free. Event is rainor shine.

Entrance Gate onto Constitution Island is located at the south-end of the Metro-North Cold Spring station parking lot. Free Parking provided. A bus will shuttle guests from the gate onto the Island, continually. For further information call 845- 446-8676 or e-mail info@constitutionisland.org.
