Activities Planned for Young Children at Howland Library
When the older children are back in school, it's time for the younger ones to have some fun at Howland Public Library on 313 Main St. in Beacon. Fall children's programs have begun. Toddler Tales is held every Wednesday morning from 10:30-11:15am. This program introduces 2-3 year-olds to stories, songs, finger plays, and simple arts & crafts. Children must be accompanied by an adult during the program.
Children ages 3 and up are invited to attend Pre-K Story Time on Thursday mornings from 10:30-11:15am. An adult must accompany children while they enjoy stories, songs, games, and arts & crafts.
Howland Library and the Wee Play Community Project run Come & Play Thursdays every Thursday between 10:30amnoon. The library's community room is set up for an informal play and social time for parents and caregivers with babies and young children. You may bring a toy(s) to share and you may come and go as you please. This is a free program, however, a $1 donation is suggested to offset the purchase of toys, CDs, etc.
On Tuesday, October 2 from 10:30- 11:30am, Baby and Me will begin a 6-week fall session. This program is open to adults with babies ages birth to 24 months. It includes simple stories, finger plays, and songs. After lap time, baby and adult may enjoy a play and social time.
All programs are free of charge and run throughout the year, except Baby & Me, which runs in 6-week sessions. Registration is not necessary. If you have any questions or would like to make arrangements for a group visit, please contact Ginny Figlia at 831-1134, x.103.
