Putnam Valley Library Board of Trustees Seeks New Members

The Putnam Valley Library Board of Trustees is seeking new members to fill current vacancies on the Board. The Putnam Valley Library is an Association library, which was established in 1937. It is a private corporation, a 501 (C )(3) non-profit organization.

"A library trustee's commitment is to both the physical property and resources of the library and the services is provides…The responsibilities of a Trustee include: secure adequate funding and facilities for the library's service program, exercise fiduciary responsibility for the use of that funding and adopt policies and rules regarding library governance and use..." ("Handbook for Library Trustees of New York State")

Meetings of the Putnam Valley Board of Trustees are held on the third Monday of each month at 7:30pm. Trustees participate in special projects, serve on library committees, assist with trustee events, and attend profession meetings.

According to the Library's By-laws a person interested in serving on the Putnam Valley Library Board of Trustees must be 18 years of age or older and possess a Library card, which has been issued sixty (60) days or more before the date of election to the Board.
