Defensive Driving Course Offered at Butterfield Library
The Julia L. Butterfield Memorial Library will host an Empire Safety Council Accident Prevention Workshop on Saturday, September 29 at 9am until 3pm. The workshop will be presented by Rey Marharaj of Digital Defensive Driving (www.digitaldefensivedriving.com) and is approved by the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles.
The course qualifies participants for point and insurance reductions. These reductions include 10 percent off liability insurance and four points off traffic violations. The course will teach you how to avoid a collision and to spot road rage before you are involved. You will also learn driving techniques for inclement weather and how to be a good, courteous driver.
Digital Defensive Driving presents this workshop throughout the Hudson Valley at libraries, schools, hospitals, community centers, corporations and churches. Their goal is to reach as many drivers as possible to improve road safety. Additionally, they believe in supporting the communities in which they hold their workshops. To that end, Digital Defensive Driving will donate five dollars to the Library for each workshop attendee.
Registration is required along with a fee of $50 payable by check on the day of the workshop or through www.digitaldefensivedriving.com. Young Adults (16 -21 yrs.) pay half price ($25) when accompanied by an adult. It is recommended that participants bring a bag lunch. Please call the library at 265-3040 for more information. The Butterfield Library is located at 10 Morris Avenue in Cold Spring (Route 9D just north of the intersection of Routes 301 and 9D).
