Legislator Vincent Tamagna to Assist Residents with STAR Program Tax Rebate Applications
Putnam County Legislator Vincent Tamagna will be available in both Cold Spring and Garrison this week to assist residents who have no internet access or may not have a computer with the filing of their applications for the STAR Program Tax Rebates. "Residents will be receiving letters from State Department of Taxation with the applications for the STAR Program tax rebates beginning Monday, September 17, 2007 and throughout the month of September. Many people may not recognize the letter or that this is a new process. It is important that property owners fill out the application in order to receive their money", said Tamagna.
Legislator Tamagna will be in the Fish Library in Garrison on Monday, September 24 from 2 -6pm and the Julia Butterfield Library on Saturday, September 22 from 10am to 2pm. "The fastest way to receive the rebate is to file online via the internet although the letter will contain an application that can be mailed in," said Tamagna. "I will have internet service available for our seniors or any resident who needs access or assistance. Without applying, property owners cannot receive their money so it is important they apply as soon as possible."
Seniors who participate in the Enhanced STAR Program will automatically receive their rebate check. All other property owners who participate in the STAR program must file an application. If these dates are inconvenient for residents, please call Legislator Tamagna at 265-4575 and he will make special arrangements.
