Review What Front Page News Is Dear Editor:
Your 8/29 issue of the PCNR leaves me wondering, once again, how you determine the journalistic relevance of front page news. Your lead story, "Seniors Confront Legislators in Effort to Have Doughnut Privileges Restored", is no doubt, compelling and riveting news. However, this story trumps what I believe is a truly important and inspirational article that you found room for on page eight.
"Garrison Native Finishes Cross Country Moped Trip" was placed behind the sports page. Kevin Corkrum, a life long garrison resident, and his friends have just completed a heroic odyssey. All of their families have been affected by cancer. They drove on mopeds almost 3000 miles, from California to Vermont, to raise money for cancer research. I cannot conceive of a more noble cause for their journey.
"This story is one of the more important stories to be published by the PCNR. A novel could be written about their journey; yet it was placed on the page eight.
I don't mean to diminish the importance of the Seniors doughnuts but you should more carefully review what "Front Page News" is.
