Robert Bengis

Robert Bengis, a longtime Cold Spring resident and former chairman of the Philipstown Zoning Board, died on Saturday, Sept, 15, 2007 at the Veterans Home in Carmel at the age of 74.

Retired from the field of sales and marketing, Mr. Bengis was an accomplished musician who also spoke a half dozen languages fluently. He was in demand as a pianist for such community events as senior citizens gatherings.

Mr. Bengis was the son of Paul Bengis, a Cold Spring realtor active in community affairs, and his wife, Lee. He was graduated from DeWitt Clinton High School in the Bronx and from Brooklyn College. He is survived by his son, Christopher of Frisco, Texas; daughter-in-law Beth, and grandchildren, Dylan and Lauren. His son plans a private memorial gathering for friends.
