Haldane School Foundation Hosts A View To The Future at Cat Rock Castle
The Haldane School Foundation will host an autumn fundraiser to benefit the Haldane playground with A View to the Future at Cat Rock Castle on Sunday, October 14 from 2 to 5pm.
Cat Rock, a fieldstone English style mansion with crenellated towers built in 1919 by Frederick Henry Osborn, is known for its spectacular views stretching from New York City to the Catskill Mountains and, of course, the Hudson River. In this exquisite setting, the Foundation will host a cocktail party with entertainment by Karl's Circus Comedy and live Hudson Valley-style contemporary music from noteworthy artists.
A silent auction is planned to help to make the future of the Haldane School playground a reality. The current outdated and limited equipment must be improved to make the schoolyard a place where children of all ages and abilities can enjoy activities and achieve physical fitness and interpersonal development. The renovation of the playground is being funded entirely by private donations, grants and other fundraising efforts. The auction will feature items that focus on fitness and athletics including ski packages, yoga lessons, kayaking adventures and sports memorabilia as well as "evening out" packages that include babysitting and dinner. Guests will also be able to "buy" pieces of the new playground equipment throughout the afternoon.
Tickets for the event are $50 and available through Lynn Felter, 265-2976 or at the Julia L. Butterfield Memorial Library. Checks should be made out to The Haldane School Foundation and can be mailed to Haldane School Foundation, PO Box 364, Cold Spring, NY 10516. Make your reservations early as space is limited.
