Haldane Varsity Football Home Opener on Thursday

After a frustrating loss to Pawling, 34-18 on week 1, with heat taking its toll on key players, Haldane looked to regroup on Saturday against Lincoln Hall.

With less than 3 minutes to play Q.B. Nick Torchia hit wide open Robert Percaciollo on a 10 yard touchdown pass to put Haldane 1 point down. Choosing not to tie, Haldane went for two and had the ball intercepted. The defense held tough and forced Lincoln Hall to punt, creating one more opportunity, but the ball was fumbled away on the ensuing snap and victory squashed.

The Blue Devils came up short on Saturday losing 27- 26 to the Lincoln Hall United. A tough loss magnified even more with an injury to Senior Captain Mike Thorpe early in the game. It's not yet known how serious his knee injury is, but certainly he will be missed. Thorpe had 10 carries for 63 yards before his injury. Derek O'Dell, coming off injury from Week 1, himself had 19 rushes for 93 yards, 1 touchdown and 11 tackles on defense.

Torchia threw 2 touchdown passes to Robert Percacciolo but also had 3 attempts picked off. Evan Campbell had 54 rushing yards and 50 receiving yards. Kyle Van Tassel had 31 yards rushing and stepped up defensively with 10 tackles. Rafael Famighetti added to the scoring with his foot, making 2 of 3 extra points attempts. Justin Cornelious added a fumble recovery on defense.

Haldane will play Croton on Thursday afternoon @ 4:30pm. It will be the home opener so please come out and show your support.
