Philipstown Flag Hawks Fall to Hudson Valley

On Sunday September 16 the Philipstown Flag Hawks hosted a tough Hudson Valley team at Mayor's Park in Cold Spring. Philipstown won the toss and elected to get the ball first. The Hawks had a rough opening series, which lead to great field position for Hudson Valley which wasted no time capitalizing and running out to a 7-0 lead.

Down 13-0 the Hawks put together a long drive. The Philipstown's line was giving up some size but Kevin Barry, Matthew Champlin, Joey DiGregorio, Anthony Lombardo, Thomas Percacciolo and Nicholas Telesco used a lot of heart and determination. This paid off as quarterback Tyler Outhouse handed off to Brandon Twoguns who followed Nick DiPalo's block into the endzone to cut the lead to 13- 6.

Philipstown's defense played hard all game with some great plays from their line, including VJ Fina, Michael Chefalo and Sam Giachinta. Michael Champlin continued to use his quickness to get into the opponents' backfield, getting to quarterback and running backs several times. Defensive ends Luke Junjulas, Wilson Thorpe and Nate Allen made several touchdown-saving plays.

Down 31-6 with 6 seconds left on the clock Philipstown dug deep one more time and converted a 35-year run with Thorpe clearing the way for Twoguns to reach the endzone. The Hawks take the field against this Sunday in Poughkeepsie against Highland.
