Junior Pee Wee Hawks Vs. Newburgh Steelers

On a beautiful mid-September Sunday afternoon the Philipstown Junior Pee Wee Hawks battled the Newburgh Steelers for four hard-hitting quarters on Newburgh's home turf. Although the Hawks fell to the Steelers 19-7, they showed a lot of heart and toughness in challenging a team with 27 players (10 of which were older-lighters) versus the Hawks' 18 until the closing whistle.

The offense was led by Tyler Giachinta at QB who handed the ball to a trio of ball carriers consisting of Will Moss and Ryan McCollum at the two halfbacks spots and Jordan Panthen at fullback. The Hawks' touchdown was scored by Ryan McCollum on a flawlessly executed double-reverse which covered 18 yards. The three backs slashed and pounded their way to a combined 110 yards led by a solid offensive line with Nick Allen at Center, Sachin Sanmugaraja and Matthew Balducci at the Guard spots and Matthew Koval and Thomas D'Eustachio at the tackle spots. Steven Dick and Blake Cohen rounded out the offense at the tight-end and split-end spots.

The majority of these players also played tough hard-hitting football on the defensive side of the ball and made Newburgh fight for every yard. Connor Allen, Alec Vasi, Brandon Rucker, Jared Reyes, Caleb Ogren, Austin Semple, and Giliean "Gilly" Pemble-Flood also played hard in a variety of offensive and defensive positions and on the kickoff and return teams and made valuable contributions to the team during the game.

The Junior Pee Wee Hawk's next game is on Sunday, September 23 at 2:30 vs. Beacon at Mayor's Park. Please come out and support the team. Go Hawks!!
