Putnam County Announces Flu Vaccine Clinic Dates

The Putnam County Department of Health in conjunction with the Putnam County Office for Aging will be holding public flu clinics for adult Putnam County residents (19 years of age and older) at the following locations:

Cold Spring: Thursday, November 1, 2007 at the North Highlands Fire House, 10am-2pm

Putnam Valley: Wednesday, October 10, 2007 at the PV Friendship Center, Town Park Lane (of of Oscawana Lake Road), 10am-2pm

Carmel : Thursday, October 11, 2007 at the Carmel Fire Department, Route 52 and Vink Drive, 10am-2pm

Mahopac: Wednesday, October 17, 2007 at the William Koehler Center, Route 6, 10am-2pm

Persons will be asked to provide proof of age and Putnam County residency. A doctor's prescription will be required for pregnant women.

The cost of the flu vaccination will be $20 for persons under 60 years of age. Flu vaccination is free for persons 60 years and older and anyone younger who has a valid Medicare card.

-Please note: Eligible children 6 months to 18 years old can receive flu vaccine through the department's pediatric immunization clinics; however, the Putnam County Department of Health recommends vaccination for the flu/pneumonia vaccine to be administered by the child's healthcare provider. Please call 278-6086 to schedule an appointment.

Additional flu clinics may be scheduled as flu vaccine shipments arrive. Please continue to check the Putnam County Department of Health Flu Vaccine Hotline at 278-6130 for further updates.

Pneumonia vaccine will also be available free to those residents over 65 years of age. For residents under 65 years, a doctor's prescription is required and a $25 fee will be charged.
