Who Ever Heard of a Mushroom Hike? At Hudson Highlands Nature Museum
On Saturday, October 6, at 10am, the Hudson Highlands Nature Museum will answer the question, "Who Ever Heard of a Mushroom Hike?" This time of year is the perfect time to find beautiful examples of colorful fructifications of the fascinating mushroom group.
Come to the Museum's, newly renamed, Outdoor Discovery Center location, 20 Kenridge Farm Drive, Route 9W, Cornwall, to identify some common fungus among us with local Naturalist Ray Clyne. Come take a walk in the woods and trails in search of mushrooms, toadstools, brackets and fairy rings. These fungi in the woodlands and fields are an important part of the ecosystem, playing a vital role in recycling nutrients.
This program is suggested for adults and children ages 5 and up. The cost is $5. Members are $3. For more information, call (845) 534-5506, ext 204. To find out more about the Museum and the many interesting programs offered, visit the website at www.hhnaturemuseum.org.
