Haldane Football Tops Croton

Senior Co-Captain Robert Percacciolo started at quarterback for injured Nick Torchia and Evan Campbell was the feature back, replacing Co- Captain Mike Thorpe who was also out with injury.

Nervousness, anxiety and anticipation. Those were the feelings leading up to Thursday's Varsity football game. What transpired could not have been scripted any better.

The Final score was Haldane 21, Croton 12. The leadership of Percacciolo and the elusive running by Campbell were inspiring. Although limited to a ground attack, the Devils dug in and produced 287 yards on 43 carries; Campbell had 100 yards from16 carries. Scoring on a 10 yard run, Derek O'Dell rushed for 108 yards and scampered 38 on his touchdown jaunt. Percacciolo ran for 57 tough yards, mostly on broken plays and audibles called at the line. Kyle Van Tassel also handled the ball with aggressiveness, unfortunatly penalties negated most of his yardage. Officially, he had 5 carries for 18 yards. Rafael Famigetti also is having an impressive year. His newfound place kicking is becoming automatic. Raffy has made 5 of 6 attempts this year and the missed 1 was blocked.

Defensively the Devils continue to improve. Percacciolo led all tacklers with 18, Tolon Lijoi and O'Dell finished with 10 apiece, Matt Giachinta had a stand out game with 8 tackles, 1 sack and 1 fumble recovery. Andy Lakota also picked up his intensity with 6 tackles and 1 sack. The team is relatively young in experience but with each week's practice they are maturing as a team. Homecoming is this week at Haldane. The Football game will be Saturday @1:30pm.

The team is coming together. With your support the Boys In Blue can "Make It Happen."
