Hudson Highlands Land Trust Announces Fall Take- A-Hike Line-Up
Led by experienced volunteers who share their knowledge of local treasures, the Take a Hike! program features old favorites and some fun, new treks. There is no cost to join them on a hike. For more information, contact 424-3358 or www.hhlt.org. Please check their website and/or answering machine to confirm that a hike has not been cancelled, particularly in cases of inclement weather.
Friday, October 5 - Spooky Storytelling Hike. Gather your courage and meet us for an eerie walk through Little Stony Point Park in Cold Spring. Professional storyteller Jonathan Kruk will spin yarns of local mysteries and spooky area legends, perfect for putting families with school-aged kids in the Halloween mood.

Monday, October 8 - Columbus Day Nature Adventure: Calling all kids! Spend part of your day off on a hiking adventure through The Garrison School Forest in Garrison. Led by a school forest committee member, this outing is definitely more fun than TV and way more challenging than video games - hey, you might even learn a thing or two. Designed for chaperoned kids age 5-14.

Thursday, October 11 - Musical Tot Trek II - Little ones and parents alike will love this whimsical nature walk along Marcia's Mile adjacent to the Philipstown Recreation Center in Garrison, led by singer/ songwriter Stacy Labriola. Designed with toddlers and preschoolers in mind, this trek features a rollicking musical break with Stacy's renditions of favorite nature-inspired songs and chants. Arborist Lew Kingsley will lead hikers around Pelton Pond Fahnestock State Park, Putnam Valley, NY on this colorful and educational hike.
